Choujin X (2021)

The two high school students Tokio Kurohara and Azuma Higashi have made it their mission to protect their neighbourhood from petty criminals. Azuma, in particular, is not afraid to take on all kinds of bad guys. Only the notorious Choujin, who possess supernatural powers, are out of his league. But then, one day, the two friends are ambushed when a criminal they had previously defeated returns as a Choujin to take revenge. Seeing no other way out, the two inject themselves with a drug that can turn people into Choujin. While Azuma feels no effects, his friend grows a beak and must struggle to keep his new identity a secret. Which is not so easy because there seems to be someone who would be only too happy to expose the two of them.

Die beiden Oberschüler Tokio Kurohara und Azuma Higashi haben es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, ihre Nachbarschaft vor Kleinkriminellen zu beschützen. Vor allem Azuma scheut sich nicht davor, es mit allen möglichen Bösewichten aufzunehmen, einzig die berüchtigten Choujin, die übernatürliche Kräfte besitzen, sind selbst für ihn eine Nummer zu groß. Doch dann geraten die beiden Freunde eines Tages in einen Hinterhalt, als ein zuvor von ihnen besiegter Verbrecher als Choujin zurückkehrt, um Rache zu nehmen. Da sie keinen anderen Ausweg sehen, injizieren die beiden sich eine Droge, die Menschen in Choujin verwandeln kann. Während Azuma keine Auswirkungen spürt, wächst seinem Freund ein Schnabel und er muss sich bemühen, seine neue Identität geheim zu halten. Was gar nicht so einfach ist, denn es scheint jemanden zu geben, der die beiden nur zu gerne auffliegen lassen würde …

Nonostante i loro caratteri all’apparenza opposti, Azuma Higashi e Tokio Kurohara, liceali del secondo anno, condividono un forte legame di amicizia. Azuma è un ottimo studente, è abile nella lotta e i suoi valori lo conducono a opporsi con i pugni alle ingiustizie che hanno luogo in città. Tokio, di contro, in classe non ascolta e poltrisce, e anche quando si tratta di combattere preferisce fare da spettatore. Tuttavia, ci sono avversari che nemmeno Azuma sarebbe in grado di affrontare: i Choujin, esseri umani dai poteri soprannaturali, responsabili della devastazione che segna come una cicatrice la zona del Giappone nella quale vivono i due ragazzi. Un giorno, minacciati in prima persona da uno di questi mostri e senza via di fuga, Azuma e Tokio decidono di difendersi nell’unico modo che gli resta: iniettarsi una droga speciale e diventare loro stessi dei Choujin!
