Das Königreich Ouka erstreckt sich über ein Drittel der gesamten Welt. Doch Macht und Neid sind nie weit voneinander entfernt, sodass man um mögliche Konflikte mit anderen Nationen zu verhindern, eine Lösung abseits von Kriegen gefunden hat. Alle 8 Jahre wird so ein großes Turnier abgehalten, in dem Repräsentanten eines jeden Landes, sogenannte »Patrioten«, in Fünfer-Teams gegeneinander antreten. Die Sieger erwarten hierbei Ruhm und Ehre. Auch der junge Kurou träumt davon ein Patriot zu werden und so in die Fußstapfen seines Vaters zu treten, der einst selbst an diesem Ereignis teilgenommen hat, von dort allerdings niemals zurückgekehrt ist.

In questo mondo Kurou, per inseguire il successo del padre, cerca di diventare uno dei Patriot, gli atleti scelti per rappresentare i cinque grandi stati. Ma essere un Patriot non è facile.., da un lato ci sono la fama e il successo… dall’altro la morte!
