Takashi, von Natur aus warmherzig und freundlich, wird nachts von Halluzinationen einer Frau verfolgt, die verzweifelt um ihr Kind bettelt. Auch nimmt er gelegentlich Schatten an seinem Fenster wahr, versucht diese jedoch zu ignorieren. Während sein 17. Geburtstag näher rückt, bekommt dieser Schatten immer klarere Züge und die Halluzinationen werden lebendiger. Langsam entwickelt Takashi eine kalte, verletzende Gleichgültigkeit gegenüber seinen Mitmenschen.
