Nella fortezza di Gerun, roccaforte costiera sul Mar Mediterraneo, duecento cavalieri combattono contro una lega di 20.000 soldati mediorientali guidati dal generale Jamal Jan. Il generale Jamal si impadronisce del castello e anche del comandante dell’esercito nemico, il principe Leonard de Limburgo. Tuttavia, le idee del generale su come soggiogare il nemico non sono conformi alle tradizionali regole dell’arte bellica: il principe Leonard diventa schiavo del generale Jamal e dovrà ubbidire a ogni sua voglia o capriccio.
