Es ist ein klassischer Pilotenfilm, der technisch gut gemacht ist. Es gibt viel Fliegerei und Technik sowie einiges an persönlichen Beziehungsproblemen zu sehen. Die Motive des Bösewichtes bleiben weitgehend im dunkeln. Bemerkenswert ist, dass die nordkoreanische Führung durchaus als rational und positiv handelnd dargestellt wird und die Amerikaner bemerkenswert schlecht wegkommen.
