Ein kinderloses Ehepaar entscheidet sich, einen kleinen Jungen zu adoptieren. Die Wahl fällt auf den schüchternen Jin-Sung. Kaum zu Hause, zeigt der Junge seltsame Züge. Er sucht immer wieder Zuflucht bei dem kranken Akazienbaum im Garten. Er behauptet sogar, dass der Geist seiner verstorbenen Mutter in der Akazie lebt. Als seine Adoptivmutter wie durch ein Wunder schwanger wird und ein Baby bekommt, sieht sich der kleine Junge auf dem Abstellgleis. Er versucht das Baby zu ersticken und lenkt damit den Zorn auf sich. Jin-Sung beschließt davonzulaufen. Noch in dieser Nacht geschieht etwas grauenvolles … und die Akazie beginnt zu blühen.
