Im Mittelalter existiert das Königreich Goryeo auf der koreanischen Halbinsel. Es ist die Zeit des Tees, der Aufstände und der Schwerter. Den drei großen Schwertern gelingt es, den jüngeren Sohn des unbeliebten Königs in ihre Gewalt zu bekommen. Sie wollen mit dem König über bessere Lebensbedingungen für das einfache Volk verhandeln. Ein Verrat durch Yoo-baek lässt diesen Plan jedoch scheitern und führt zum Tod von Poon-chung. Während Yoo-baek mit einem guten Posten am Hof belohnt wird, ist Seol-rang mit der kleinen Tochter von Poon-chung auf der Flucht. Viele Jahre später ergibt sich die Gelegenheit über alle Taten der Vergangenheit abzurechnen …
