Hong Gil-Dong works as a detective. However, he is no ordinary detective as he does his job illegally, following the bidding of his boss President Hwang who has contacts with everyone, everywhere – and all she needs is the right amount of money. With her help, Gil-Dong is usually able to find any culprit in but a matter of hours, and just like her, he doesn’t care about morals.

Only culprit Kim Byeong-Duk was able to escape his reach for years now. Byeong-Duk is the darkest chapter of Gil-Dong’s past as he is the murderer of his mother. But since then, he has lost all memories of the fateful night. He still has sleeping issues, which he tries to drown in a dangerous mix of drugs. The most dramatic problem, however, is that Gil-Dong seems to have lost his natural feeling of fear and is basically afraid of nothing and no one. But that makes him an unpredictable bomb that can go off at any time.

One day, he finds new clues to the whereabouts of Byeong-Duk. However, right before he can catch him, he is kidnapped by a mysterious organisation. Dong-Gil starts his chase together with the granddaughters Dong-Yi and Mal-Soon, who want to save their grandfather. Along the way, they meet Kang Sung-Il, who knows a little too much about Gil-Dong. Eventually, they all get caught up in a great intrigue that reaches its climax on the 24th of the month.

Hong Gil-Dong arbeitet als Detektiv. Dies tut er jedoch nicht offiziell angemeldet, sondern illegal unter der Leitung von President Hwang, die zu so ziemlich jedem Kontakte pflegt und das Geld in Bergen im Keller liegen hat. Mit ihrer Hilfe schafft es Gil-Dong praktisch jeden innerhalb weniger Stunden dingfest zu machen und dabei ist ihm jedes noch so brutale Mittel recht. Nur an Kim Byeong-Duk beißt er sich seit Jahren die Zähne aus. Byeong-Duk ist für das dunkelste Kapitel in Gil-Dongs Vergangenheit verantwortlich, ist er doch der Mörder seiner Mutter. Seit diesem Zeitpunkt fehlen ihm sämtliche Erinnerungen an die Zeit vor dem Tod der Mutter und er leidet unter Schlafstörungen, die er mit einem gefährlichen Drogencocktail zu kurieren versucht. Das Schlimmste ist jedoch, dass Gil-Dong jegliches Gespür für Angst verloren hat und vor nichts und niemandem mehr zurückschreckt. Dies macht ihn zu einer eiskalten und unberechenbaren Zeitbombe.

Eines Tages findet Gil-Dong neue Hinweise auf Byeong-Duk, doch kurz bevor er ihn hochnehmen kann, wird er von einer geheimen Organisation entführt. Er nimmt die Verfolgung auf, im Schlepptau die Enkeltöchter Dong-Yi und Mal-Soon, die ihren Großvater retten wollen. Dabei stößt er auf Kang Sung-Il, der erschreckend viel über Gil-Dong weiß und plötzlich hängt er mitten in einer Verschwörung, die am 24. des Monats seinen grausamen Höhepunkt erreichen soll.
