Im Sommer 1950 haben nordkoreanische Truppen nahezu die gesamte koreanische Halbinsel erobert. Nur im Süden der Halbinsel verteidigen südkoreanische und UN-Truppen unter Führung der USA ein kleines Gebiet. General MacArtur als Befehlshaber der UN-Truppen will mit Hilfe einer großen Landung im Hinterland des Feindes den Belagerungsring der nordkoreanischen Truppen aufsprengen. Den größten strategischen Nutzen verspricht eine Landung in der Nähe der Stadt Incheon, obwohl diese taktisch am schwierigsten durchzuführen ist. Die geheimen Planungen werden unter der Operation Chromite zusammengefasst. Als wichtigste Vorbedingung ist die Aufklärung aller nordkoreanischen Verteidigungsanlagen in Umfeld der potentiellen Landezone. Hierzu werden Spezialkräfte der südkoreanischen Armee in der Operation X-Ray entsandt. Für den Erfolg der Operation sind die eingesetzten Spezialkräfte bereit, jedes Opfer zu erbringen.
