Hirotaro Inaba, welcher bis jetzt nur mit seiner Arbeit beschäftigt war, ist nun über 60 Jahre alt und süchtig nach Final Fantasy XIV Online. Sein Sohn Mitsuo ist ein japanischer Büroangestellter und versucht seinen Vater als Online-Spieler in derselben virtuellen Welt zu erreichen, ohne seine wahre Identität zu offenbaren. Trotz der Geheimnisse, welche beide haben, kommen sich Vater und Sohn langsam näher und verstehen sich gegenseitig besser zu verstehen durch das Spielen von Final Fantasy XIV Online.

Die Serie basiert auf einem FFXIV-Blog mit dem Namen „Gekikakusatsu SS Nikki“, welcher von einer Person mit dem Namen „Mighty“ geschrieben wird.
