Duel (2017)

Jang Deuk-Cheon is a fierce police officer who doesn’t get along well with all his colleagues. However, for his ill little daughter he is the sweetest dad one could wish for. One day, his daughter must go to the hospital once again and his world starts to crumble yet again, but then the transporter is ambushed and his daughter is kidnapped right in front of him. Luckily Deuk-Cheon was able to see the kidnapper, so he starts a race to save his daughter.

In a bus, Deuk-Cheon finds a suspect who looks just like the kidnapper, but the young man doesn’t know anything about this incident. He can’t even recall his own name or where he comes from. The only thing he knows is that he should talk to the man whose name is written on the piece of paper he owns: Jang Deuk-Cheon. The policeman doesn’t know what to think of the man until he finds a second suspect, who happens to be the perfect lookalike of the man on the bus—could he be his twin?

Jang Deuk-Cheon ist als Polizist für seine ruppige und unverblümte Art bekannt, doch für seine schwer kranke Tochter Soo-Yeon ist er der liebste Vater der Welt. Als sie wieder ins Krankenhaus muss, bricht für Deuk-Cheon diese schöne Welt zusammen. Als sie in ein anderes Krankenhaus verlegt werden muss, wird jedoch der Krankenwagen überfallen und Soo-Yeon entführt. Deuk-Cheon konnte jedoch den Entführer erkennen und nimmt die Verfolgung auf. Schließlich kommt er einem jungen Mann auf die Spur, doch als er ihn zur Rede stellt, beteuert dieser seine Unschuld und gibt an, sich weder an seinen Namen, noch an irgendetwas zu erinnern. Er weiß nur noch, dass er vor zwei Tagen in Busan war und er einen Zettel in der Tasche hat, auf dem der Name einer Person steht, an die er sich wenden soll: Jang Deuk-Cheon. Da taucht wie aus dem Nichts ein zweiter Mann auf, der ihm aufs Haar gleicht, etwa sein Zwilling …?
