Eun-Ju, ein Kind einer gut situierten Familie, wird im Jahr 1978 entführt. Allerdings nimmt der Entführer keinen Kontakt mit ihren Eltern auf. Eun-Jus Mutter und ihre Tante suchen überall nach ihr und besuchen auch verschiedene Wahrsager, um von diesen Hilfe zu erhalten. Der einzige Wahrsager, welcher ihnen erzählt, dass Eun-Ju immer noch am Leben ist, ist Kim Jung-San. Er ist es auch, welcher ihnen den Detektiv Gong Gil-Yong empfiehlt. Dieser möchte nicht in den Fall involviert werden, erklärt sich aber bereit, den beiden zu helfen. Er hilft den Eltern von Eun-Ju, die Ermittlungen geheim zu halten, da eine öffentliche Suche ihre Tochter gefährden könnte.
Detektiv Gong traut dem Wahrsager nicht, aber er bestätigt einige Dinge, welche sich später als Tatsache herausstellen.
