Unter der Führung von Königin Erieza ist die Organisation DarkZide heimlich auf die Erde gelangt. Ihr Ziel ist es, das Lamu, die menschliche Lebensenegie, in ihren Besitz zu bringen, um ihren Fortbestand in einer parallelen Welt zu gewährleisten. Um dieser Bedrohung zu begegnen, gründet Takeshi Munakata die Organisation SAIDOC. Eine Entwicklung namens Crystal Power soll das Projekt Changérion zu einem erfolgreichen Abschluss bringen. Durch einen unvorhergesehenen Zwischenfall erhält jedoch nicht der Wunschkandidat von SAIDOC, Katsuhiko Hayami, sondern der Privatdetektiv Akira Suzumura, ein Frauenheld und Glücksspieler, die neu entwickelte Superkraft und wird zum Helden Changérion.
