Takashi Obuchi war einmal der Trainer eines Oberschulbaseballteams. Er wurde wegen seiner Haut, seines Gesichts und seinen energiegeladenen Anweisungen als der »Rote Dämonenlehrer« bezeichnet. Nun ist er ein abgespannter Mann mittleren Alters.

Eines Tages trifft Takashi auf Tomoyuki Saito, welcher einst im Baseballteam von Takashi während der Oberschulzeit gespielt hat. Dieser hatte Talent, aber keine Geduld, was dazu führte, dass er die Oberschule nicht abschloss. Tomoyuki ist nun ein verantwortungsvoller Erwachsener und mit Yukino verheiratet. Takashi erfährt von seinem ehemaligen Schüler, dass dieser nur noch ungefähr ein halbes Jahr zu leben hat, da er an Krebs im Endstadium leidet. Nun bereut Takashi es, damals so hart zu seinen Schülern gewesen zu sein und plant etwas für Tomoyuki.
