Der Student Kaede Tabata hat Probleme, wenn es um soziale Interaktionen geht: Er glaubt fest daran, dass kein Ärger entsteht, wenn er einfach nicht mit anderen Menschen kommuniziert. Hisano Akiyoshi, eine seiner Kommilitonen, ist eine waschechte Idealistin ohne Menschenverstand. Sie träumt davon, jegliche Art von Hass zu beseitigen, und will so Kriege stoppen, Mobbing beenden und die Armut besiegen. Die beiden haben komplett unterschiedliche Persönlichkeiten, sind aber beide Außenseiter.

Zusammen gründen sie den geheimen Club Moai, um so ihrem Ziel, gemeinsam die Welt zu verändern, ein kleines bisschen näher zu kommen. Eines Tages verschwindet Hisano jedoch und es ist fast so, als wäre sie vom Erdboden verschluckt worden. Dadurch verändert sich auch der Club: Mit immer mehr Mitgliedern wird er nun zu einem Club für Arbeitssuchende, die an potentielle Arbeitgeber vermittelt werden wollen. Kaede überlegt zunächst, aus dem Club auszusteigen, entscheidet sich aber dann dafür, den Club wieder zu dem zu machen, was er einmal war …
