Wangan Midnight: The Movie (2009)

Akio Asakura is a student who, one day, finds a Nissan Fairlady 240Z in a scrapyard. Despite the warning that the car is also called the “Devil Z”, he buys the car and has a friend fix it up. Eventually, Akio starts racing at the “Wangan Midnight”, a street race held on the Tokyo Shuto Expressway. Of course, there is plenty of traffic, including a number of heavy commercial vehicles. Therefore, the actions in the Wangan races are very dangerous; quickly, Akio has an accident, and his friend doesn’t want to restore the car – after all, all its previous owners died in the car. That’s why Akio decides to take the tools into his own hands and restore the “Devil Z” on his own …

Akio Asakura ist ein Student, der eines Tages einen Nissan Fairlady 240Z auf einem Schrottplatz findet. Trotz der Warnung, dass der Wagen auch »Teufels Z« genannt wird, kauft er das Auto und lässt es von einem Freund herrichten. Schließlich beginnt Akio damit, Rennen auf dem »Wangan Midnight«, einem Straßenrennen, das auf der Tokio Shuto Expressway stattfindet, zu fahren. Natürlich gibt es jede Menge Verkehr, darunter auch eine Reihe von schweren Nutzfahrzeugen. Deshalb sind die Aktionen in den Wangan-Rennen sehr gefährlich; und schnell hat auch Akio einen Unfall, sodass sein Freund das Auto nicht mehr restaurieren will – immerhin sind alle seine Vorbesitzer in dem Auto gestorben. Deswegen entscheidet sich Akio, das Werkzeug selbst in die Hand zu nehmen und den »Teufels Z« alleine zu repaieren …
