Synopsis

Warlord Hidetora Ichimonji has decided to step down to free his place as ruler for his three sons Taro, Jiro and Saburo. His only wish is to be allowed to spend his remaining years as an honoured guest in his sons’ castles. While the two elder sons flatter their father and secure his goodwill, the youngest son warns him not to trust that they will also act together in the future. Hidetora, unable to see the impending danger, banishes his son.
The youngest’s warning comes true when the eldest son, together with his brother, conspires against his own father in order to deprive him of his social standing and power.
