Eine Gruppe von Wissenschaftlern hat sich auf eine tropische Insel zurückgezogen, um ein Wetterexperiment durchzuführen. Im Glauben, der Menschheit bedeutende Dienste zu erweisen, bemerken sie spät, dass sie mit ihrer Arbeit das Grauen erschaffen: Plötzlich wird ihre Mannschaft von mutierten Tieren bedroht, vor allem von Kamakiras, riesigen Heuschrecken, die schließlich ein überdimensional großes Ei ausgraben, aus dem ein Baby-Godzilla schlüpft. Bedroht von den Kamakiras, ruft der Kleine Mama Godzilla auf den Plan, die auf der Insel aufräumt.
