Synopsis

Arimasa Tsuchimikado was cast out by his family and lives in isolation because he is half human, half fox. Only a small cat, which he finds injured and heals with his magical abilities, remains loyal to him.

Years later, the two still share their lives, though it has long been apparent that the supposed cat also bears a heavy fate: she is Kagetsu, a member of the Kouga clan of cat people. Her blonde hair and red eyes strike fear into humans, and the two outsiders remain on the margins of society.

To make matters worse, Arimasa and Kagetsu are now drawn into political intrigues in which the fighting is not always fair. Arimasa’s task: to predict the future and ward off the attacks of the demons sent by the enemies. But a perfidious intrigue brings him into disgrace. Then Kohryu appears, a relative of Kagetsu and also a cat person, who interferes in the conflicts. But whose side will he really be on?
