As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World (2024)

It doesn't feel like a real place.

One of the most important and difficult things when writing fantasy worlds is to make the world believable. For a world to be believable it needs to have characters that are believable. For that it is important that all characters are smart enough to function properly in the positions they are in. For if they weren't at least that smart they wouldn't have come into said position.

But this is where this story falls apart.


None of the characters are very believable given their skills and circumstances.

An early example is when the protagonist successfully recruits a foreigner with questionable background into his ranks. The only friction encountered is in regards to questions about the skills this foreigner has. Conveniently the character has a cheat skill to accurately see these things. But skill isn't the reason foreigners with unclear backgrounds weren't allowed to raise the ranks. It's because their allegiance is unclear and you have to be wary of spies. That's why it is always better to have someone less competent that you can trust over someone more competent that you cannot trust.

It's very difficult to enjoy any of the story when the world it takes place in makes no sense.
