Synopsis

Ichitaro grew up as an only child because his older brother died at an early age, and his mother was unable to have any more children afterwards. The fact that he himself was born is only because she turned to the fox goddess afterwards, and it was perhaps the goddess’s blessing that gave him the ability to see supernatural beings. But while other children played outside, Ichitaro could mostly only watch during his youth, as his body was weak from birth, and he was constantly ill in bed. Nevertheless, he took over his parents’ legacy and now runs the business as the astute “Master of Nagasakiya”.

Together with his loyal companions, such as the demons Nikichi and Sasuke, Ichitaro manages, against all odds, to keep the department store running. He rarely leaves his residence, but when he secretly goes outside one night, he witnesses a brutal murder. Soon after, Edo is plagued by a series of other eerie massacres. As fear spreads throughout the city, Ichitaro is determined to do everything in his power to find the perpetrator. A plan in which his many ghostly friends can once again assist him …
