Synopsis

High school student and ambitious drummer Tomorou Tenma lives in a world where artificial intelligence is already part of everyday life. In this not-too-distant future, thoughts and emotions generate what is known as “e-Pulse”, which serves as the primary energy source for AI devices known as Sapotama. They are used for almost everything and have elevated humanity to a new level of development, but terrifying monsters also emerge from the shadows of this development. These Digimons evolve by consuming e-Pulse energy and can be both friends and enemies. However, due to the “glitch” Tomorou creates when he touches a Sapotama, he has not been able to use this technology to the same extent as others.

One day, Tomorou catches the Sapotama belonging to Hitomi Shinomiya, who is the same age as him, but it is badly damaged in the process. When she subsequently suffers a “Cold Heart” incident, in which her body freezes due to an e-pulse drop, he blames himself. Enraged and desperate, he tries to throw his own Sapotama across the room, causing it to malfunction as well – only for a Digimon named Gekkomon to jump out of it. With this new partner by his side, Tomorou joins the bounty hunter team Golden Dawn, which investigates renegade Digimon and the dark truth of a system that is both driven and corrupted by emotions.
