School Rumble San Gakki führt die Erlebnisse von Harima & Co fort und überspringt dabei einen großen Teil der Handlung des Mangas. Die Geschichte geht also nicht da weiter, wo die zweite Staffel aufgehört hat, sondern zeigt gleich das Finale der Vorlage. Die übersprungenen Kapitel werden am Anfang der Episode kurz zusammengefasst.

In der ersten OVA dreht sich alles um die Dreiecksbeziehung zwischen Tenma, Harima und Karasuma.
