Synopsis

A long time ago, Alibaba outwitted forty robbers and stole their treasures. With this newly acquired wealth, he became the richest man in the land.

Since then, many years have passed, and thirty-three generations have been born who have lived in the stolen wealth until Alibaba the 33rd is dismayed to discover that, over all these years, nothing has remained of the once vast robber’s treasure but a dusty old oil lamp. Though, when one of his servants cleans the old lamp, a powerful djinni suddenly appears, wanting to grant him all his wishes. However, the djinni is terribly afraid of cats. Without further ado, Alibaba, who sees new wealth in the djinni, has all the cats in the city captured and locked away. In doing so, however, Alibaba incurs the wrath of little Goro. Goro is the descendant of the robber chief from whom Alibaba the first once stole the treasure. Now Goro sees the chance for revenge and, together with his friend, collects thirty-eight cats in order to resurrect the power of the forty robbers.
