Inu no Taishou (dt. Herr der Hunde) ist der Titel des Daiyoukai (besonders mächtiger Dämon), der bis vor 700 Jahren über den Westen Japans herrschte. Neben seiner menschlichen Gestalt konnte er sich auch in einen riesigen Hund verwandeln.

Obwohl er ein Dämon ist, verliebte sich Inu no Taishou in eine menschliche Frau. Um seine Frau und seinen halbdämonischem Sohn, Inuyasha zu retten, kämpfte er gegen den Samurai Takemaru und kam dabei ums Leben.

Inu no Taishou ist auch der Vater des vollwertigen Dämons Sesshoumaru.
