Akiko kommt aktuell in die achte Klasse und hofft auf ein interessantes Schuljahr, das allen viel Spaß bereiten soll. Mit ihrer neuen merkwürdigen Lehrerin, auf die sie sich eigentlich sehr gefreut hatte, stellt sich das allerdings als schwierig heraus. Akiko ist ein freundliches, aufgeschlossenes Mädchen und fungiert in der Klasse als die (ungehörte) Stimme der Vernunft. Ihr ist es wichtig, dass alle gut miteinander auskommen, so dass sie Kibayashi-sensei ungeachtet ihrer Exzentrizität nicht aufgibt.
