Der schwarze Kater stößt auf die völlig zerzauste Katze mit Schildpattmuster, als diese kurz vorm Verhungern steht. Ihre Besitzer sind umgezogen und haben sie dabei offenbar vergessen. Jetzt weiß sie nicht, wie sie in der »Wildnis« überleben soll und ist daher dem Kater äußerst dankbar, dass er ihr in der Not aushilft. Sie nennt ihn fortan sogar Meister und verehrt ihn geradezu. Dessen Motive sind aber nicht unbedingt als altruistisch zu bezeichnen, denn solange sich die ungepflegte Katze in seiner Nähe befindet, bekommt er plötzlich Komplimente, die ihm vorher nie zuteil wurden.
