Der Gründer der Mikagura-Detektei verschwand spurlos bei den Recherchen zu seinem letzten Fall. Seine drei jungen Mitarbeiterinnen spüren ihn schließlich in einer Opiumhöhle auf, völlig ausgemergelt und schwer suchtkrank. Wer ihn dort hinein verfrachtet hat, hängt eng mit dem Fall zusammen, denn von selbst hat er sich nicht so tief hinab begeben, wenn ihn auch die schmerzhafte Erinnerung an eine verflossene Liebe quält. Sobald er wieder auf dem Damm ist, macht er sich sofort wieder Gedanken zu dem Fall, hinter dem er seinen alten Feind Shougo Tokiwa vermutet, dessen Vorgehensmuster er hier zu erkennen glaubt. Da er weiß, dass höchste Vorsicht geboten ist, agiert er zunächst weiter aus dem Hintergrund und lässt mehr Informationen sammeln, um seine Vermutungen zu bestätigen. Wenn es hart auf hart kommt, stellt er sich aber sofort schützend vor seine drei Mädchen, denn dass ihnen etwas zustößt, würde er niemals zulassen.
