Mamoru Itou ist frisch in die Sage Academy gekommen und wird dort von dem Lehrer in die Gruppe 1, zusammen mit Satoru Asahina, Shun Aonuma, Saki Watanabe, Maria Akizuki und Reiko Amano. Bereits hier wird klar, dass er nach Reiko der Schwächste aus der Gruppe ist. Er ist nicht sonderlich ausdauernd beim Gebrauch seiner telekinetischen Fähigkeiten und gibt sich oft sehr entmutigt, ängstlich und sensibel. Er hat einen bereits ausgeprägten Faible für die Kunst und verhält sich seinen neuen Freunden, sogar der von den anderen als Schwächling gebrandmarkten Reiko absolut freundlich und loyal.
