Ai Uryuu, von den Krankenschwestern unter ihrem Kommando „Captain“ genannt, ist Leiterin des Krankenschwesternkaders der Tenchi Academy. Sie ist eine Angestellte der Schule, keine Schülerin.

Der Captain hat eine einschüchternde Begeisterungsfähigkeit für heilende Verletzungen, in einem Ausmaß, dass sie enttäuscht ist, wenn niemand zu Schaden kommt oder nur unzureichend schwer verletzt ist und zuweilen sogar Äußerungen von sich gibt, die einschließen, dass sie selbst dafür sorgen wird, dass eine Schülerin kollabiert. Sie ist stolz auf die Rolle des Pflegerinnenkorps, die den Schülerinnen erlaubt, in ihren Duellen rücksichtslos zu kämpfen. Sie verbindet eine Hass-Freundschaft mit der Leiterin des Schiedsrichterinnen-Squads, Rina Kotake.
