Nako Kagura ist die Urenkelin von Nakahito Kagura. Sie ist eine leise, schüchterne und ungeschickte Schülerin der 9. Klasse Mittelschule an einer Mädchenschule namens „Momonoki“-Academy. Sie lebt im alten „Kagura“-Schrein mit ihrer alleinerziehenden Mutter Misaki und lebt neben ihrer sehr reichen Nachbarin und besten Freundin Uruka. Nako ist eine sehr talentierte Cellistin und könnte eines Tages berühmt werden. Der Tag, an dem sie Kurumi fand, war der Tag, an dem sie ihren ersten Kuss gab und von da an war sie die neue Meisterin von Steel Angel Kurumi. Nako empfängt die gleiche Zuneigung von Kurumi, die auch ihr großer Vorfahre Nakahito empfing. Sie wird ständig von Kurumi verfolgt und beschützt.
