Zur Grundschulzeit war Yoshino kein auffälliger Junge. Mit seinen Schulkameraden hat er recht wenig zutun und zum Raufbold Mahiro möchte er erst recht keinen Kontakt haben. Jedoch wird Yoshino dazu auserwählt Mahiro im Namen der Schule zu besuchen, nachdem dieser einen Unfall erlitten hat und im Krankenhaus liegt. Widerwillig geht er mit seinem Lehrer ins Krankenhaus und wird von Mahiro gleich dazu aufgefordert, mehr über den Unfall herauszufinden. Denn Mahiro beteuert darauf, dass der Unfall kein Zufall gewesen ist. So traf Yoshino auf Mahiro, der wenig später auch sein engster und bester Freund wurde.
