Obwohl Melida zum Adelsgeschlecht der Paladine gehört und deshalb eigentlich eine ranghohe Manaklasse erben hätte sollen, zeigt sich diese Kraft bei ihr bis ins jugendliche Alter nicht. Aus diesem Grund ist sie häufig Anfeindungen ihrer Schulkameraden ausgesetzt. Erst als Kufa Vampir in ihr Leben tritt, ändert sich alles: Durch eine Übertragung eines Teils von Kufas Mana ist sie nun auch in der Lage, Mana zu beherrschen. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt gewinnt sie auch an mehr Selbstvertrauen in ihre Fähigkeiten und wird öffnet sich anderen Personen mehr – insbesondere Kufa. Dies zeigt sich auch darin, dass sie anfängt, Personen die ihr wichtig sind, in scheinbar ausweglosen Situationen zu beschützen.
