Tanabe ist ein Fotograf, der im selben Fotostudio arbeitet wie Rikuo Uozumi. Die Beziehung mit seiner Freundin ging kurz vor Weihnachten in die Brüche, weshalb er Rikuo das Geschenk überreichte, welches eigentlich für seine Freundin gedacht war. Er meinte zu Rikuo, er könne dieses seiner Freundin oder einer anderen Frau schenken. Das Geschenk war eine Halskette, welche Rikuo der Frau seines Kumpels, Kozue Fukuda, zur Vermählung schenkte. Sie gab Rikuo die Kette jedoch wieder zurück und sagte ihm, er solle sie seiner Angebeteten, Shinako Morinome, schenken.
