Kaoru Mizutani ist die neue Lebensgefährtin von Yoji Sasaki, Miyos Vater. Die beiden leben zusammen mit Miyo im selben Haushalt. Kaoru ist sehr zuvorkommend und gibt sich stets Mühe, Miyo eine gute Stiefmutter zu sein, doch diese ist sehr abweisend und möchte am liebsten alleine gelassen werden. Auf Streit mit Kaoru ist sie jedoch nicht aus. Miyo meint, ihr Vater wüsste, dass sie keine Stiefmutter haben möchte, aber trotzdem versucht Miyo immer, den Frieden zu bewahren.
