Marukuma ist der älteste Bruder seines Klans und ein Kemono der Gattung Oni. Er und seine vier Brüder sind die Eigentümer vom »Marukuma-Pfandhaus«, welches in der Stadt Yokosuka in der Präfektur Kanagawa liegt. Doch nur nach außen hin ist dieser Laden ein Pfandhaus. In Wirklichkeit werden dort menschliche Leichen gestapelt. Als Oni steht nämlich auch Menschenfleisch auf dem Speiseplan von Marukuma und seinen Brüdern. Sie sind grausam und fackeln aus einer Laune heraus Gebäude ab – sogar Krankenhäuser. Jedem von ihnen unterstehen dutzende bis hunderte Mitglieder.

Nobimaru wurde von Youko Inari damit beauftragt, den Klan anzugreifen und unter seine Kontrolle zu bringen. Youko wollte nämlich ein Monopol auf Menschenfleisch haben. Nobimaru besiegte sie mit Leichtigkeit.
