Dentsu Inc. is a Japanese publicity agency that was founded on the 1st July 1901. Its headquarters are located in the Minato district of the city of Tokyo.
Initially, the company was founded by Hishiro Mitsunaga as Japan Advertising Ltd. and Telegraphic Service Co. In 1906, Telegraphic Service Co. was renamed Japan Telegraphic Communication Co., Ltd. (Nippon Denpo Tsushin-sha). A year after, the two companies merged.
In the 30s, the newsroom was sold to Doumei News Agency to fully concentrate on publicity. A decade later, in 1946, the company bought 16 publicity agencies to strengthen itself in the publicity field. In 1955, the company was renamed to the current name Dentsu Inc.
