Das Unternehmen wurde 1999 von Editorial Planeta DeAgostini S.A. aufgekauft und in ein Tochterunternehmen umgewandelt. Im Jahr 2009 wurde das Unternehmen komplett in das Mutterunternehmen integriert und aufgelöst. Der Name Altaya wird jedoch weiterhin von Editorial Planeta DeAgostini S.A. als Marke für Miniaturen, Modelle und Figuren verwendet.
