Little Lucy Snow was supposed to attend a prestigious elementary school; however, a macabre twist of fate finds her enrolled instead at Miss Weaver’s Academy for the Scientifically Gifted and Ethically Unfettered, also known as Hollow Fields. Located on the outskirts of Nullsville and run by the insidious Engineers, the grim boarding school dedicates itself to raising the next generation of mad scientists and evil geniuses!

Classes include Live Taxidermy, Cross-Species Body Part Transplantation, and Killer Robot Construction. For her own survival, Lucy must master her lessons quickly—at the end of each week, the student with the lowest grades is sent to the old windmill for detention . . . and so far, no child has ever returned.
Die kleine Lucy Snow sollte eigentlich ihren ersten Tag an der schönen Grundschule in der Stadt genießen; jedoch sieht eine makabre Ironie des Schicksals sie bei Miss Weavers Akademie für wissenschaftlich Begabte und ethisch Grenzenloses angemeldet - auch als »Hollow Fields« bekannt.
Befindlich am Stadtrand von Nullsville und von heimtückischen Ingenieuren geführt, widmet sich die grimmige Internatsschule der Steigerung der nächsten Generation von verrückten Wissenschaftlern und bösen Geistern!

Im Unterricht enthalten sind Lebend-Präparationen, Kreuzungen diverser Arten, Körperteil-Transplantationen und der Bau von Killerrobotern, und für ihr eigenes Überleben muss Lucy sie alle schnell meistern ... denn der Kursteilnehmer mit den niedrigsten Noten am Ende jeder Schulwoche wird zu der alten Windmühle geschickt - und bisher ist kein Kind jemals zurückgekehrt!
