Dans ce second tome aux époques plus variées, Maki met en scène un tireur de pousse-pousse amoureux de sa sœur de lait, laquelle est destinée à épouser un comte, ou encore une prostituée tentant de survivre dans les rues de Tôkyô dans l’immédiat après-guerre… Tout en s’amusant à faire intervenir dans l’intrigue les particularités des différents signes astrologiques, Maki nous fait découvrir différentes facettes de la condition féminine, ainsi que l'évolution des mœurs dans la société japonaise contemporaine.
