Außerirdische sind auf der Erde alltäglich geworden. Kumika ist von ihrem Heimatplaneten zur Erde gekommen, um dort zu arbeiten und ihre armen Eltern zu unterstützen. Sie wird von ihren Kollegen als eine Seltsamkeit angesehen, da sie eine Außerirdische ist, die überhaupt nicht isst oder trinkt, sondern sich ausschließlich von den Nährstoffen der Luft ernährt.

Kumika lehnt regelmäßig Einladungen in Restaurants und Bars nach Feierabend ab und versucht, ihre Zeit auf der Erde ausschließlich der Arbeit zu widmen, was sie unnahbar erscheinen lässt. Eines Tages jedoch bricht sie bei der Arbeit vor Erschöpfung zusammen. Als ihr Kollege Chihiro bemerkt, dass es ihr nicht gut geht, serviert er ihr ihre erste Mahlzeit: eine Schüssel mit heißem Udon. Die verklemmte Kumika entdeckt durch das Essen neue Geschmacksrichtungen und erwacht zu neuen Emotionen.
