Paifu ist halb Vampir und halb Werkoala. Zusammen mit seinem besten Freund José, dem Geist, erlebt er viele Abenteuer und heckt auch viele Streiche aus. La historia gira en torno a Paifu, un travieso niño monstruo, que lleva una vida alegre en Cabo Murciélago jugando con sus amigo José Rodríguez y Aapon. Su tranquilidad se ve rota cuando comienza a extenderse por su pueblo la gripe de los monstruos, una gripe que no afecta a los humanos pero trae la muerte inevitable a los monstruos al cabo de un mes. Dicho virus se ha extendido ya a muchos habitantes del pueblo, y dado que al médico del lugar no le quedan vacunas, alguien tiene que salir en busca de los medicamentos; la tarea no es sencilla, ya que la bruja que hace las vacunas vive en el Monte Búho, a 1200 Km del pueblo de Paifu.

Paifu, José e Arpon sono tre giovani mostriciattoli che vivono nel villaggio di Capo Pipistrello, dove umani, animali antropomorfi e mostri convivono pacificamente. Accade che la popolazione «mostruosa» di Capo Pipistrello inizia ad essere contagiata da un misterioso morbo, e il dottore dei mostri diagnostica a tutti una terribile malattia: il raffreddore da mostro, che porta alla morte in un mese. I tre amici decidono così di partire alla volta della montagna su cui vive la strega che produce la medicina per il raffreddore da mostro, ma sono troppo giovani e inesperti per fare il viaggio da soli. Paifu convince con l’inganno un ex lottatore di sumo, Maruyama (un umano), a far loro da guida e guardia del corpo. Inizia così un viaggio pieno di avventure e pericoli, tra umani aggressivi o amichevoli, e strane creature.
