Die Oberschülerin Pieta freut sich schon beim Aufwachen, denn heute ist ihr Geburtstag. Sie freut sich, weil sie genau weiß, dass nach dem Schultag, an dem ihre Freundin Danae ihr ein Geschenk überreichen wird, auch ihre Mutter eine kleine Überraschung und einen Geburtstagskuchen für sie vorbereitet hat. Das weiß sie so genau, weil sie heute zum 1033. Mal Geburtstag hat! Jeden Tag um Mitternacht beginnt für sie wieder der gleiche Tag, aber nur sie kann sich an all die vergangenen Tage erinnern.

Doch am 1033. Tag geschieht etwas Unerwartetes: Auch ihre Freundin Danae erinnert sich plötzlich daran, dass »heute« genau wie »gestern« verläuft. Gemeinsam beschließen sie, zu versuchen, aus diesem Kreislauf auszubrechen. Dabei kommen sie zufällig in Kontakt mit ihrer extrem reichen Mitschülerin Kiaro, wodurch unerwartete Geschehnisse in Gang gesetzt werden …
