Description

Bloody battles, a sea of slaughtered soldiers, the last words of those helplessly dying … Sudou is a young man from modern Japan who has always been haunted by nightmares of ancient wars. He lives in an instrument workshop, where one day, he is visited by the exchange student Suzuki. Upon seeing a traditional instrument he has built, a Mongolian horse-head lute, she begins to cry and asks to be allowed to play it. Sudou is then suddenly transported to the realm of the Xia Dynasty, where Genghis Khan has united the Mongol tribes and now wants to conquer the surrounding areas and wipe out all cultures.

Sudou awakens in the body of Shut Hell, the “evil spirit” who used to be a young Tangut soldier and the only survivor after her castle fell due to the Tsog attack. The moment Shut Hell gains consciousness, she is saved from the gallows by the young Mongol prince Yurul and, from then on, accompanies him on his escape. Yurul looks like Suzuki and is on his way to Seito to get the cultural heritage of the Koukei, the ancestors of his mother. He is pursued by his brother, Harabal of the Tsog, the one responsible for the massacre of Shut Hell’s comrades. Although Shut Hell initially uses Yurul as bait in her vendetta against Harabal, he teaches her much about life throughout her journey and helps her rediscover her humanity.
