In einer Zukunft, in der nach einem großen Krieg viel des vormaligen Wissens verloren gegangen ist, verdient sich Kyoko ihren Unterhalt als Straßenhändlerin. Eines Tages trifft sie auf ein junges, fröhliches Mädchen, das, ausgerüstet mit Rucksack und dem Notizbuch ihres Vaters, das Land bereist. Schon nach einem kurzen Blick in das Notizbuch wird Kyoko klar, dass sie ein Objekt immensen Wertes vor sich hat, ist es doch voll von Karten, Blaupausen und anderen Informationen aus der Zeit vor dem Krieg. Sie beschließt Aoi näher zu kommen und sie auf ihrer Reise zu begleiten, um ihr so das Buch bei Gelegenheit zu entwenden. Schon bald muss Kyoko jedoch feststellen, dass dieses Unterfangen kein so leichtes ist, denn bei mehren Gelegenheiten zeigt Aoi ungeahnte Fähigkeiten und mehr und mehr drängt sich die Frage auf, was hinter diesem mysteriösen Mädchen steckt.
