Six Flying Dragons (2015)

Lee Bang-Won is the son of warlord Lee Seong-Gye and basically grew up on the battlefield. Already as a child, he recognised that the politics and structures of the country were about to crumble. The divide between rich and poor grows bigger, and fights for survival happen on a daily basis. Several years later, the situation reaches its terrible climax.
Because of this, Bang-Won becomes hopeful when he learns about the plans of politician Jeong Do-Jeon who is about to attempt a coup d’etat. For this, he needs the help of Bang-Won’s father, but the warlord hesitates. Thus, Bang-Won himself takes command, and when mysterious Ddang-Sae can successfully perform an assassination attempt, Do-Jeon’s plan begins to work. Together with Boon-Yi, a female activist, and Moo-Hyul, a motivated young soldier, everyone becomes a key piece to changing the country of Goryeo into the kingdom of Joseon – the Six Flying Dragons.

Lee Bang-Won ist als Sohn des Kriegsherren Lee Seong-Gye auf dem Schlachtfeld groß geworden. Er bemerkt jedoch schon als Kind, dass die Grundstruktur und Politik des Reiches am Abgrund steht. Die Schere zwischen Arm und Reich klafft immer mehr auseinander und sinnlose Überlebenskämpfe mit zahlreichen Toten stehen an der Tagesordnung. Jahre später hat die Situation ihren traurigen Höhepunkt erreicht.
Umso erfreuter ist Bang-Won, als er mitbekommt, dass der ehemalige Politiker Jeong Do-Jeon vorhat, eine Rebellion ins Leben zu rufen, um das Reichsystem zu stürzen und ein neues, funktionierendes zu etablieren. Für diese Zwecke braucht er jedoch Bang-Wons Vater als neues Oberhaupt auf seiner Seite, doch dieser zögert. So nimmt der idealistische Bang-Won selbst die Zügel in die Hand, und als der mysteriöse Ddang-Sae erfolgreich ein Attentat auf einen hochrangigen Politiker verübt, kommt Do-Jeons Plan wie von selbst ins Rollen. Zusammen mit Boon-Yi, einer Aktivistin und selbst von Armut und Leid betroffen, und Moo-Hyul, einem übermotivierten Kriegsanwärter, der eine Großfamilie zu versorgen hat, werden Bang-Won, Seong-Gye, Do-Jeon und Ddang-Sae zu den Schlüsselfiguren einer Rebellion, die das Reich Goryeo in das neue Reich Joseon umwandeln wird – die Six Flying Dragons.
