Kiyoshi Katsuragi führt einen kleinen Baumarkt, in dem er hart arbeitet. Er dachte er hätte eine ideale Familie, aber sein 21-jähriger Sohn Minoru tötete willkürlich acht Menschen. Nun ist sein Sohn ein Todeskandidat, was dazu führt, dass Kiyoshi gewalttätig wird. Sein ältester Sohn Tamotsu wird von der Neugestaltung des Unternehmens ferngehalten. Seine Frau Nobuko wird verkrüppelt. Und dann taucht auch noch Hoshino vor ihm auf, die im das Gegenteil eines zum Tode verurteilten zeigt: Sie hat vor Minoru zu heiraten.
