My ID Is Gangnam Beauty (2018)

As a child, Kang Mi-Rae was bullied so much for her appearance that she decided to undergo plastic surgery shortly before starting university. After this operation, her whole life changes abruptly, as Mi-Rae is now admired by everyone for her beauty. But she soon realises that this purely superficial admiration of people is not an honest one, as this turns into further bullying when it comes out that she only looks so beautiful thanks to an operation. From then on, Mi-Rae is known as “Gangnam Beauty” because she is supposedly as artificially perfect as the district of the same name. Only Do Kyung-Suk, who knows her from before, stands by her side without any ulterior motives and helps her to recognise her true beauty.

Als Kind wurde Kang Mi-Rae für ihr Äußeres so sehr gemobbt, dass sie sich dazu entschloss, sich kurz vor Unibeginn einer Schönheitsoperation zu unterziehen. Nach diesem Eingriff ändert sich schlagartig ihr ganzes Leben, da Mi-Rae fortan von allen wegen ihrer Schönheit bewundert wird. Doch schnell bemerkt sie, dass diese rein oberflächliche Bewunderung der Menschen keine ehrliche ist, da sich dies zu weiterem Mobbing entwickelt, als herauskommt, dass sie nur dank einer Operation so schön aussieht. Fortan ist Mi-Rae als »Gangnam Beauty« bekannt, weil sie vermeintlich so künstlich-perfekt ist wie der gleichnamige Bezirk. Einzig Do Kyung-Suk, der sie von früher kennt, steht ihr ohne jegliche Hintergedanken zur Seite und hilft ihr dabei, ihre wahre Schönheit zu erkennen.
