Tanaka Hisashi ist Medizinstudent in Hokkaido. Nebenbei arbeitet er ehrenamtlich in einem örtlichen Krankenhaus. Dort lernt er in der Zeit den optimistischen Kano Yasuki kennen, welcher seit seinem 12. Lebensjahr an Muskeldystrophie erkrankt ist. Kano ist ein kleiner Exzentriker. So rennt er zum Beispiel spät nachts durch das Krankenhaus, um eine Banane zu essen. Nun verliebt sich Kano in eine neue ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiterin, welche zufälligerweise die Freundin von Tanaka ist.
