Synopsis

In May 1945, the soon-to-be doctor Taichi Torii is assigned to help with operations on imprisoned US soldiers. These are human experiments, as it turns out later. Although he participates reluctantly and even suggests stopping the experiments, they continue – until eight of the soldiers die. During the Yokohama War Crimes Trials, he is eventually charged as the main perpetrator of the experiments and sentenced to death. His wife, Fusako, now tries everything in her power to lessen her husband’s sentence and proof his “innocence” …
